Helping to sustain
Wednesday Community Breakfasts
in Amherst, Massachusetts.
For nearly 12 years, each Wednesday
volunteers at the Unitarian Universalist
Society of Amherst (UUSA)
have served community breakfasts
from 8 - 10 AM at their meetinghouse.
The breakfasts are open to everyone,
of any tradition. No questions are asked,
and there are no program requirements.
There is no other free meal
program available in Amherst
on Wednesday mornings.
Yet, at a time of increasing food insecurity,
the UUSA has been told it will lose
all funding for food purchases
after December 31st.
The UUSA Board of Directors
voted to do what it can to try to
keep this vital program operating,
even though it has no budget for it.
Amherst Shelter, Inc. / El Colibrí,
a recently established
non-profit 501(c)(3) agency,
is seeking to help the UUSA keep the
Wednesday Community Breakfast program
serving hot, nutritious meals
for many years to come.
But it needs your support!
